Backstage before our show at the Blender Theater for CMJ, the guy at Blender.com interviewed us, along with some guy asleep on the couch. What you can't see is that he fell asleep with his Blackberry open, mid-text. He might have been dead, we're not sure.

Christian Schultz was born in Blacksburg, VA in 1984. He attended Virginia Commonwealth University as a Photography major. He currently lives and works in New York City, where he is a full time student at the International Center of Photography.

Gaskets are playing three shows during this weekend's CMJ Festival in New York. We have added three members to the duo especially for these shows. In addition to Ross and Teddy, Jamie and Tony from D.C.'s excellent Greenland are on guitar and bass, respectively. Miguel Urbiztondo, member of many bands and co-owner (with David Lowery of Camper Van Beethoven) of Richmond's Sound of Music Studios, will be playing drums.

The first of what will hopefully be a series of videos, made for remixes we made of the songs on Loose Change in 2005 with our friend Eric Wes. Lena Dunham directed the video, in which she dressed up a bunch of her friends in underwear and made them wear masks with the Gaskets faces on them. It's creepy (and fantastic).

For about three years, when Ross isn't playing or writing with the Gaskets, he has been holed up in a basement somewhere with various borrowed laptops and copies of Garageband composing under the name Ballpoint Pens. For a long time, I've been wanting to go through all of his solo stuff that's been saved on my computer and gather the best of it together as one album. Going from Animal Collective-inspired folk to Sadé style soul ballads to full-on power pop, each song is a short, sweet little piece of musical inspiration. We've been talking about adapting one or more of them as Gaskets songs to play with the new band. I'm turning comments on, so feel free let us know which Ballpoint Pens songs you would like to hear transformed into Gaskets songs.
